In the late 90's, Andy Ks moved from Seattle to Los Angeles. Playing various venues throughout
the Los Angeles area; The Mint, The Martini Lounge, The Gig, 14 Below,
Coconut Teasers. Defining edgy alternative acoustic sounds, self-proclaimed as "Dissonant Acoustic."
Acoustically, driving a musical nail into inspiration. Awaking senses some fear, as the
unusual or unexpected shatters one's complacency of self-understading of "what acoustic should be."
2001 brought the release of the three song demo entitled "01." The demo's first song is a direct insight into the style of Andy Ks dissonant acoustic urban; dau. An explanation, if you will, of what is to be expected of Andy Ks music. The driving rhythm displays the energy strived for in his acoustic styling. Hoping to turn listeners on to a new and different approach to acoustic. Includes the ambient surreal song "Sun Skin." "Like the skin of the sun, oh my, she's so warm...."
01's release was quickly followed by the 2002 five song E.P., "Definition." A full fledged work at driving in the context of dissonant acoustic. Further defining the structural theme of dissonant acoustic. A complete definition thereof, Andy Ks Dissonant Acoustic. Songs include: "Habitually, Inc." and "When Violence Has No Definition."
After an extended hiatus, and spending time dedicated to writing a movie script, 2007 was spent writing new material
for the acoustic. Perhaps it was a relocation to the desert that kicked the senses back on track to dissonant tones. The
move certainly has made an impact on the perspective. And if you change the perspective, you change the experience. Writing
seems to feed off experience, so it is recognized there has been some relative approach changes to Andy's writing style.
This without hindering the creative focus. Simply an adjustment that has helped produce the new 13 track cd Tabula Rasa. This
is the most complete recording to date. This is some great stuff!
Stay in (dissonant) tune on Andy Ks' blog.
